Millie Rosales, DVM, DACVD

About the Miami Veterinary Dermatology Staff

Dr. Millie Rosales did her undergraduate studies at Florida International University where she graduated with high honors with a Bachelors of Biology. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Following graduation, she worked as a general practitioner in Miami, Florida, for a non-profit small animal clinic. In 2003, Dr. Rosales returned to the University of Florida and completed a two year residency in the specialization of veterinary dermatology. Dr. Rosales is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD), a distinction given only to practitioners who have achieved board certification in this specialty. She has also authored several articles and lectured at local and state veterinary associations. Dr. Rosales holds a strong interest in allergic and immune medicated skin conditions in dogs and cats; and chronic (recurrent) ear infections in dogs.

Outside of the office, Dr. Rosales has distinguished herself as a leader among her peers through memberships and involvement in various professional organizations. She is the past President (2008-2010) of the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association (SFVMA) and has served the association through various committees: membership, newsletter, website, social and continuing education chairperson. She still sits as a board member of the SFVMA. In 2008, Dr. Rosales was awarded the Gold Star Award by the Florida Veterinary Medical Association for her outstanding contributions to the SFVMA. Dr. Rosales is also a board member of the South Florida Veterinary Foundation, and is the new 2014 President for this organization. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.

Beyond her dermatology expertise, Dr. Rosales has a strong passion for the care and well-being of pets in shelters and rescue organizations. You will often find her supporting and advocating for local shelter and rescue groups, raising awareness on spaying/neutering and promoting the importance of pet adoption.

Dr. Rosales is a native of Miami. Still dear to her roots, she is fluent in Spanish and able to serve the Spanish speaking clients of the South Florida area.



                                                                                  


Nicole Puerto is Dr. Rosales' dermatology technician. Nicole has been a veterinary technician since she graduated from Palmetto Senior High School. Her vast experience has been through hands-on learning in the field. Nicole has assisted veterinarians in general veterinary medicine and surgery, emergency medicine and surgery, internal medicine and now dermatology. Nicole was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She is a life-long animal lover. She always knew that helping animals was her passion and it is hard not to see that when she is at work. Once you and your pet meet Nicole, you will be captivated by her warm heart, compassion and caring nature. Nicole truly embodies the mission of Miami Veterinary Dermatology.

When not working, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching football. Nicole is the proud owner of a cute, hairy mutt named Chewy and two amazing cats named Yoda and Leia. They were all rescued and are a huge part of her life.





Joy Matthews is Dr. Rosales' veterinary assistants. Joy is pursuing an education in veterinary medicine and currently attends Miami Dade College. Her goal from childhood is to one day be a veterinarian. Joy was born in England and relocated to Miami in 2006. It has been her pleasure to rescue her pets from shelters and currently has an exuberant one year old spaniel mix named Brembo and a beautiful shepherd mix named Potenza. Joy enjoys cooking and attending daily yoga classes with her fiance at the end of her day.





Caitlin Turndorf is a native of Maine and has had a love and passion for animals from a very young age. Caitlin pursued her interests and obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont in Animal Science and Spanish. Caitlin moved to Miami in 2009 and for the past 5 years has been working with animals, both exotic and domestic. Caitlin has now found her place working as a surgical technician and as Dr. Rosales dermatology technician at the South Miami office: Southeast Veterinary Referral Center.
